Last Week's Question: I am a chemical that occurs in essential oils. I am potentially toxic and can harm the skin when an essential oil containing me is applied topically. Examples of me are bergaptene and citronene and I occur in angelica and ammi visnaga oils, among others. What am I?
Last Week's Answer: coumarins (or forocoumarins)
This Week's Question: I am dark and thick. I am used in perfumery to obtain a green and earthy middle/base note. I am just a bit sweet, a fresh and slightly cucumber-like aromatic indication of the delicate white to pastel colored blooms found on the plant from which I come. I am extracted using solvents since it is not possible to obtain much of me through the distillation process. My scent is fleeting yet unmistakable. While not cheap, I am worth every penny and only a small amount of me is needed to make a difference in your favorite perfume. What am I?

the common and botanical name for the above and win one of the

Personalized
Baby Shower Favors by HBN member Tomboy Handcrafted Soaps & Body Products
$1.00 | 1 ounce shower favor bar
A few weeks ago, I hosted a baby shower for dear friends who are adopting a little boy from Ethiopia. They are so looking forward to being parents! His name is Lukas and I've been chatting with his mom and dad about him for so many years now that I felt like I knew him already. They'll be arriving with him from Ethiopia later this week.
For the baby shower, only something extra special would do to serve as a remembrance of the special occasion. It had to be something personalized, which for me also means it had to be handmade. What else could I do but look to a member of the Handmade Beauty Network for the perfect answer? And once again, I was not disappointed!!
This time, I chose handmade soaps in an assortment of scents by HBN member Tomboy Handcrafted Soaps & Body Products in Telluride, Colorado. Each bar was individually wrapped in glassine with a personalized welcome and congratulatory message for the parents, the baby and all of the friends and family members who are so excited and supportive. These soaps were the perfect token for all shower attendees and I was delighted to "stand guard" over them and make sure no one took more than one since all leftovers were for Lukas. Of course I was proud to let everyone know that they were handmade for the happy occasion by an member of HBN, and Jessica at Tomboy was happy to include this information along with her own company contact information on a personalized label on each bar. She also put a label on the back of each glassine wrapper indicating the scent -- and there were lots to choose from.
These personalized bars were wrapped and delivered within a little over a week of my order. The service was prompt, friendly and easy. I was able to hand out soaps in several scents including Lemon Geranium, Lime Grapefruit, Herb Garden Scrub and Tangeline, a personal favorite of mine made with fine red desert sand and tomato powder along with tangerine and lavender. Yum!
You can enjoy these soaps and other bodycare goodies, along with the same First Class service at Tomboy.
