Most product reviews included in the newsletter focus mainly on the product itself ... how it smells and feels when used on the skin. This week, we're focusing on packaging and presentation. The inspiration behind this idea is a wonderful collection of handmade soaps I received late last year from HBN member Maria Jasnoch of Nova Scotia, Canada.
I am a firm believer that the fastest and most efficient way to a beauty buff's heart is through packaging. After all, part of the joy of using a handmade product is the way it looks and feels the moment you see the wrapping. The 3 handmade soaps I received from Element Oceanica did not disappoint. Each was *very* neatly wrapped in pretty handmade paper. (Two papers had pretty gold speckles.) A colorful cigar band around the wrapper contained the company name and logo, along with contact information and product descriptions. And the scent in the box was just wonderful!
When my friend, Nicole, and I opened the bars, I had to wrestle them from her. Red Rassoul & Rose, Promise Land and Spiced Almond. Each bar was firm and substantial, and seemed to be polished to a sheen! I considered sharing with Nicole, then quickly changed my mind, and will be reviewing each bar my selfish self over the coming weeks.
Nicole, if you want your own (I know how much you loved the smell and feel of the Red Rassoul & Rose), visit HBN's member directory at this link:

Peppermint Mouthwash
2 cups distilled water
1 1/2 tablespoons baking soda
15 drops peppermint or spearmint essential oil
1 vitamin C tablet, crushed
1 teaspoon aloe vera gel
2 drops blue food coloring
Mix together all ingredients and stir well to blend. Pour into a clean glass container with a tight fitting lid. To use, shake well and rinse your mouth with 1 teaspoon of the mouthwash. Do not swallow. Shake well before each use to ensure the mix.
You can use green food coloring to make green mouthwash, or you can omit the coloring altogether for a clear mouthwash.
