2. HANDMADE TOILETRIES THYME TRIVIA QUESTION ~ Last week's winner was Christine Ehrhardt of Spencerport, New York. Christine won "Creating An Herbal Bodycare Business" by HBN member Sandy Maine!!

LAST WEEK'S QUESTION: Last year, a grassroots organization filed a petition with the Food & Drug Administration to have a world renowned perfume declared misbranded. The basis for the petition is several-fold, including the lack of a warning label and the incorporation of chemicals, the safety of which are not adequately substantiated. The petition has not yet been resolved by the FDA. To win, state the name of the grassroots organization and the perfume that is the subject of the petition.

LAST WEEK'S ANSWER: the organization: The Environmental Health Network of California; the perfume: Eternity by Calvin Klein.

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: A half a century ago, women were typically denied membership in cosmetic trade organizations simply because of their gender. In 1954, an organization was formed to counter this discrimination. Today, this non-profit organization, based in New York, boasts nearly 1,200 members and hosts the annual Beauty Awards. To win, name the organization.

Be the first to provide the correct answer and win an autographed copy of "Making Aromatherapy Creams & Lotions" by Donna Maria!! (Book will be shipped when published in July.) Read contest rules at http://www.handmadebeauty.com/htns_Newsletter.htm

4. HANDMADE TOILETRIES PRODUCT REVIEWS

Today's handmade toiletries have been wonderful for my dry skin these past few months. (I don't review anything unless I've used it consistently for at least 2 weeks.) And something special about these products ~ they came packaged with full-color brochures. This nice touch heightened my enjoyment of the products ... I even found myself reading the brochures as I brushed my teeth in the morning. I brushed longer (I guess this must be good) and enjoyed the process more than ever!!

--->Aromaleigh Free Radical Am/PM Skin Quenching Serum with Rosehips Seed Oil ~ 1 oz. $26.00
This lightly fragrant, golden blend of nut and seed oils and essential oils is one of the best products I've tried lately for my dry skin. I suffered from a terrible cold earlier this month and my poor schnoz was raw from blowing when my Skin Quenching Serum arrived. Perfect timing ... the day after I used it, the redness and irritation around my nose had all but vanished. I apply just a bit of Skin Quenching Serum to damp skin in the morning about 20 minutes before applying make-up. It sinks in beautifully and does not leave behind a greasy feeling. A little goes a long way. The packaging is a definite plus ~ a pretty cobalt blue medicine dropper bottle with raffia around the neck and a pretty glossy color label. Kudos to Aromaleigh for including a beautiful full-color catalog with photographs of products, information about aromatherapy, ingredients and directions for use. It was like reading a magazine!! Ingredients include Hazelnut Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Calendula, Vitamin e and several essential oils including 3 of my favorites: German Chamomile, Rose and Geranium. www.aromaleigh.com.

--->Whispering Water Cool Lips Lip Protection - 3/pack ~ 1/4 oz. tubes ~ $4.95
A combination of Beeswax, Emu Oil , Sweet Almond, Coconut , Castor & Vitamin e that does wonders for my lips. Cool Lips is a neutral/white colored balm that glides on smoothly ... a must for something spreading across the delicate lip area. At night, I've been spreading it around my entire mouth area which gets very dry during the winter months. And while I'm at it, a dab or two around my cuticles helps protect against peeling. I tried both peppermint and orange. I preferred the orange, sweetened with just the right amount of stevia. The peppermint is great as well, though I'm not a fan of the "tingly" peppermint feeling around my mouth. Those who are will love the icy coolness of this product, again with a bit of stevia for a sweet mint candy-like taste. A lovely tri-fold color brochure with photos of Whispering Water's various products ~ all of which contain skin soothing emu oil ~ was a great plus that made opening the package all the more fun. Cool Lips are reasonably priced, allowing you to treat yourself and a few friends at the same time. (I also got an assortment of pretty handmade soaps which I'll be reviewing later this spring.) www.whisperingwater.com.
