JoAnne won a copy of the March 2000 issue of Global Cosmetic Industry -- featuring the use of preservatives in cosmetics, steps to creating, test marketing and launching signature fragrances and the use of egg components in cosmetics...plus a feature on HBN!!
LAST WEEK'S QUESTION: In 1989, an organization with the mission of exploring the sense of smell and the human response to odors coined a term they claim describes the interrelationship of psychology and fragrance technology. The term is now used to promote fragrant beauty products by such well known companies as Shiseido, AromaVie and Avon. Name the organization that coined the term, and the term itself.
LAST WEEK'S ANSWER: The Organization: The Olfactory Research Fund Ltd, sister organization to The Fragrance Foundation. (Either or both constituted a correct answer.) The term: Aromachology.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Last year, a grassroots organization filed a petition with the Food & Drug Administration to have a world renowned perfume declared misbranded. The basis for the petition is several-fold, including the lack of a warning label and the incorporation of chemicals, the safety of which are not adequately substantiated. The petition has not yet been resolved by the FDA. To win, state the name of the grassroots organization and the perfume that is the subject of the petition.
Be the first to provide the correct answer and win Creating An Herbal Bodycare Business by Sandy Maine!! Read contest rules at http://www.handmadebeauty.com/htns_Newsletter.htm

4. BEAUTY BRIEFS
~ A new report from Forrester Research says that most dotcom retailers will be out of business by 2001 ... this includes the big beauty sites. The problem: excessive spending on national advertising campaigns and marketing promotions limits profitability.
~ Earlier this month, Estee Lauder purchased gloss.com, one of the first beauty e-tailer sites to launch last year.
~ The next EX*TRACTS will take place in New York from September 22nd - 25th. Visit www.extractsny.com for more information.
Thank you for reading HBN's Newsletter ... for those who celebrate, Happy
Easter! Have A Great Week!!
