Cosmetics Preservatives, Defined and Explained
Ahhh, preservatives. Do I need them? Want them? Love them? Hate them?

Either way, preservatives are an issue that all beauty businesses must address and I have been asked numerous times by members to try to make an expert on the topic available to members. Enter David Steinberg, author of Preservatives For Cosmetics and president of Steinberg & Associates, Inc.
The seminar is set for January 21 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm EST.
Here's what you'll learn:
1. an overview of preservatives and what types of products they are needed in and why
2. what types of preservatives are available on the market today
3. how they work and how they can and should be tested in products for effectiveness
4. what are things like shelf life, challenge testing, and how to choose which test for which products
5. where to get products tested and how much to expect to pay
6. "natural" or alternative preservatives -- what's out there, whether they are effective based on prior tests
If you have some questions, you can submit them when you register (below.)
David has a lot to say about preservatives in cosmetics, including "natural" preservatives. David holds a BS in chemistry from Drexel University and he founded the Masters program in Cosmetics Sciences at Fairleigh Dickenson University. He has written on the topic of cosmetics preservation for Cosmetics & Toiletries Magazine for over a decade and has spoken at numerous industry conferences and trade shows. David believes that a critical issue facing cosmetics companies today is consumer perception regarding the safety of preservatives in cosmetics.
I have arranged for David to join Indie Beauty Network members via live teleconference on January 21 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm EST to discuss his views on preservatives based on his experiences and to answer questions on the topic. David has discounted his normal hourly rate to join us by conference call, and he will provide an introductory overview on the topic of cosmetic preservation. In order to make the most of our time with him, questions must be submitted to me in advance so that he can prepare answers. Time permitting, he will also take questions once the previously submitted questions have been addressed.
The call will be recorded and made available for purchase as an audio download the week after the call.
