Story Ideas
Story ideas can be emailed to donnamaria@indiebeauty.com. Please put HBBM STORY IDEAS in the subject header of the message. Due to the volume of story ideas we receive, we may not be able to respond to you personally but rest assured that your suggestions will be considered. If we like your story idea and wish to follow up, we may contact you.
Editorial Contributions
Please email your editorial contributions consisting of articles to donnamaria@indiebeauty.com. Please put HBBM ARTICLE CONTRIBUTION in the subject header of the message. Due to the volume of articles we receive, we may not be able to respond to you personally but rest assured that your article will be considered. Here are the editorial guidelines.
- Word count between 650 (minimum) - 1250 words (maximum)
- Articles must be original work not published elsewhere and must provide insightful profiles of handmade beauty business owners, beauty business tips, interviews with industry innovators, how to's, trends, tools, business strategies or a call to action reflecting the ownership of business in our industry.
- Tell us what section of the magazine the article should be considered for (i.e.new trends, business owner profile, strategies for success, etc.)
- Must be emailed to donnamaria@indiebeauty.com as an attachment - Microsoft WORD format or compatible. Because we need to be able to edit your contribution, we do not accept PDF submissions.
- Include a 15 word (maximum) biography alongwith your mailing address and phone number, with area code. If you are a member of HBN, please be sure to include your business name.
- Unless specifically requested, please do not send photos. We will request them if needed.
- We reserve the right to edit all submissions.
- At this time, writers are NOT compensated financially for articles chosen for publication. We do provide a byline (with website link or email address) and a complimentary copy of the issue in which your article appears. At our discretion, we may also include information about you and your article online through our online newsletter (the Handmade Beauty Connection) and/or throughout HBN's website.
- Handmade Beauty Business Magazine retains all copyrights on materials submitted and published. Once published, the material may not be published elsewhere without specific permission from Handmade Beauty Business Magazine. If your article is selected for publication, you will be required to sign a release of rights form. Please do not submit an article unless you are prepared to sign such a release.
